Marcos Motta, the founding partner of Bichara and Motta Advogados, has received a Postgraduate Diploma in Contemporary Business Law and a Master (LL.M) in International Economic Law from the University of Warwick in England. He also holds a Master’s Degree Honoris Causa in International Law from the Superior Institute de Derecho y Economia-ISDE in Spain. He has a Certificate of Negotiation and Leadership from Harvard Law School.
Marcos Motta has been involved in the sports industry since 1997 when he began his career as the Director and International Representative for C.R. Flamengo. He has since served as a legal advisor in numerous cases and arbitrations before national and international courts, dealing with various issues, including contractual, commercial, disciplinary, and regulatory disputes. Additionally, he is a respected figure in the entertainment industry, guiding high-profile clients in film, TV, and fashion.
Marcos Motta has provided legal advice for significant commercial transactions in the sports industry worldwide, including the historic transfer of Neymar to PSG in 2017. He was also part of the Brazilian Government’s working group that reviewed the “Pelé Law” in 2008 and the FIFA Working Group that regulated “TPO.” Additionally, he was a member of the Legal Committee of the Brazilian Federal Senate, responsible for drafting the General Law of Brazilian Sport.
He is a highly regarded academic and frequently lectures at top educational institutions across Brazil, Europe, and the United States, such as Real Madrid, ISDE, La Liga, FIFA, and ESADE. His areas of expertise are focused on sports and entertainment. Additionally, he is a member of REX Sports and the Executive Committee of the Association Internationale des Avocats du Football-AIAF.
